DONATE- DANA PARAMITA

Soto Zen Priests practice a ceremony called takuhatsu. Traveling the streets, with bowl in hand, priests offer the recitation of sutras for the benefit of donors in all walks of life. Ringing a bell, and reciting Dharma, Soto priests invite devotees to practice Dana Paramita (perfection of generosity). Because of the financial support from the donors, the priests are able to continue to live a life of service, practice, and devotion. In this same spirit, I extend my alms bowl online to those wanting to offer support to this Soto Zen priest, that I may continue to provide offerings online and locally to the sangha.

All my art works are donation based with no set fees. I feel that charging a price for my art works puts limits on the ability for people to practice Dana Paramita. My art is a Dharma practice and as a priest I live off of charity. My practice as both a priest and an artist is to help Buddhas manifest in this world of suffering. This ocean of birth and death is no other than Nirvana and so I try to convert my actions of greed, hate, and ignorance into kindness, charity, and wisdom through the practice of Buddha dharma and printmaking. Carving away ignorance the buddha naturally manifests already present in the block. Please feel free to offer anything you are able and know that I am grateful.

9 bows,

Seigaku
